IWSG: How are things in your world?

This month's Insecure Writers Support Group meeting is on April 1 - April Fools Day. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling like I'm not getting the joke. Sad, sad times all over the world. And I appreciate the IWSG crew for acknowledging that sentiment in this months optional question.

April 1 question - The IWSG’s focus is on our writers. Each month, from all over the globe, we are a united group sharing our insecurities, our troubles, and our pain. So, in this time when our world is in crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic, our optional question this month is: how are things in your world?

Well, as much as I hate to admit it to those out there suffering, I'm doing pretty much the same as before. I still have my job, my home, my paycheck, and me and all my family are fine. Wish I could work from home!

Anybody out there working from home on decent COVID-19 apocalypse stories?

Happy April Fools Day - just kidding :)

Wish I could work from home as well. Other than crazy shoppers, my world hasn't altered too much.

My income is starting to take a hit, but fortunately my husband's job is very secure.

Glad you are all happy and healthy. I'm lucky that I can still work from home.

Staying home and working away sure is a win indeed.

I'm sorry you aren't able to work from home. As a nanny, I feel you, though my employers have got me on paid leave. I don't know how long they will continue to pay me for time I'm not working, but I'm grateful that they are doing what they are. Hope we can find the peak to this virus soon.

With Love,
Mandy

I'm fortunate to be able to work from home--and I really like it. It's going to be a shock and disappointment when I have to go back to the office (and yeah, I feel guilty saying that when so many are suffering). It's nice to be able to do something useful or fun on a break--cook, put away dishes, take a walk, weed the garden. Take care and stay safe.

Ha! I was just thinking about all the awesome new stories that are going to result from this pandemic. Glad to hear all is well in your world. Stay safe going out there every day.

I think it's a bit early for COVID-19 apocalypse stories, but lots of creative folks have recorded some awesome topical spoofs on popular songs.

You know it's okay if things are going well for you. There's enough sadness in the world. The fact you're okay is a blessing.

I wish this virus was a big April fool's joke, that would end today! I'm glad you're okay and doing well. I'm safe, no paycheck, but still safe for the moment...

I also do pretty much the same as I did before, but the lack of possibilities sucks. Before this mess, I knew if I ever wanted to go to a movie or dine anywhere but home, I could. I seldom did, but I could. Now, I can't. Nobody can, and that is a lousy life. I hope, we'll get through it intact... mostly.

Good to hear you still have a job. Shame you can't work from home.

Go Donna! I hope you're taking great care. I'm working from home, skyping my tutoring lessons. Good to still have an income in these trying times. WFH (Working From Home) is a new acronym! Hope we see you at WEP this month. Your words are up on our April 1 post. Haven't been across to see if you've visited yet!

So glad to hear that all is calm in your world. Other than the enforced shelter in place, not a lot has changed in my world. But my daughter and sister are both nurses, so on the front lines. And my sister just informed me that she has been exposed. So there's that.

Alex: I thought you worked in IT, and could work from home. Well, if you want to avoid crazy shoppers stay out of Home Depot and WalMart.

L Diane: still, its hard to from 2 incomes to 1. Sorry.

Natalie: enjoy the reprive :)

Pat: hope the Cats are enjoying your company, lol.

Mandy: Hope this ends soon . . .

Janet: oh yeah, my short 2 days getting to work from home was full of distractions like that. I almost wished to go to work to get some peace, lol.

Niki: you take care also. And write something instrumentally comparable to the mood of the world now.

Ian: I've seen some of those paradies. Truly inspired. I have a flash fiction alternate ending to this crisis that I hope is more an April Fools fantasy than future reality.

Joylene: THANK YOU!!!

Li: lets hope this all ends before you are not safe anymore. Be well my friend.

Olga: I miss my Saturday morning breakfasts at my favorite cowpoke restraunt. And traveling on the road doesn't give opportunities for home cooked meals. I'm really starting to hate fast food.

Lynda: I hope you are doing well also.

Denise: Ya know, I think this crisis will change the educational world. I think there will be more distance learning classes offered. Glad you are taking advantage of current technology in your day job.

Lee: lets hope the worst of this virus skips your brief contact with it. Best wishes.

Hi Donna - well that's fortunate you've still got your job ... and I guess it takes away some of the 'wondering what to do next' as I'm still at home - yet the paycheck will be helpful. I'm glad I can just carry on - albeit inside without much change ... take care - Hilary

I guess this will inspire stories and movies down the line, but for now, I'm overloaded with it. Glad things are going okay in your corner of the world.

Glad to hear you're safe. It's quiet here and the worst thing for me is missing my grandkids. I'm very fortunate, I know. Take care of yourself.

I hope you're managing to stay safe if you're still going out to work. I feel even more fortunate because I was working at home anyway, and not too much has changed. However I'm nearly a month late getting to posts and the global situation only seems to get more alarming. Here's to coming out the other side!
